Great car buying experience all the way thru to even post sale help. No pressure sales and honest
My parents have bought for years from Marty, always an honest seller with quality vehicles.
In August of this past year I bought a 2002 Chevy Cavalier from Marty Hart's. I was told upon buying the vehicle it had a 90 day warranty on it. I was also told that each of their vehicles had a FULL inspection done on them by a licensed mechanic. My experience proved otherwise. Two days after I brought the car home the check engine light came on. I took it up to Marty right away, he put it on the tester and ensured me it was just a gas cap code (of course not covered by the warranty) and that if I just got it fixed the car would be fine. Unconvinced i then took the car straight to Auto Zone where they hooked it up on their tester and told me it was something wrong with the motor. I then took the car back to Marty (with the receipt stating the problem), he then assured me that they had told me wrong and that it was just a gas cap code. I then left, only to return a couple weeks later. My car had began dying very frequently. Very concerned I once again took it to Marty, he once again hooked it to a tester and informed me this time that it was a cracked hose (again not covered by the warranty). Upon taking it to be fixed, I was told all the hoses looked almost brand new and were all intact, but the mechanic replaced them anyways. Shortly after my car had begun dying again, normally I could get it to start shortly after dying and be on my way. I was very concerned but felt there was no more I could do to get them to do something so i became use to the car dying and just having to turn it off and restart to be on my way. I did this for several months. Then February 28th on my way home from work the car died, only this time it would not start again. I called a tow truck and had it taken to my mechanic. It was then determined that the motor had blew. My mechanic then discovered that motor in the car was from a junk yard. When I bought the vehicle I was not given or even so much as informed that the motor had come from a junk yard. upon even further investigation my mechanic informed me that the motor was not even bolted into the vehicle, the motor was just sitting in there not bolted down. Marty refuses to do anything or even help with repair of the vehicle because the warranty has expired. If Marty had done a proper and full inspection of the vehicle, like he claims to do on all his vehicles, he should have been aware of this situation when I bought the vehicle. I was sold a very dangerous and unsafe vehicle at Marty Hart's, I would not recommend his business to anybody.
